AMAs vote 2026: how American Music Awards fans voted online

Answer first

The AMAs vote ran two ways in 2026: through the website with a Facebook or Google account, and through Instagram comments from a public Instagram account. Each platform allowed up to 30 votes per category per day, and Turbo Voting lifted the website's cap to 60. Participation was open worldwide with no minimum age stated, and most categories closed on May 8.

Closing dates: May 8 for most categories, May 25 for two

The AMAs voting deadline for most categories was Friday, May 8 at 11:59 a.m. PT, which is 2:59 p.m. ET. The American Music Awards' how-to page gives the Pacific time, and the 2026 rules published by Dick Clark Productions give the Eastern one. Fan voting in those categories had concluded by then.

Two categories ran later. The rules give May 25 as the close for the website route in Social Song of the Year and Tour of the Year, and the AMAs' announcement page says those two categories were set to stay open through the first 30 minutes of the broadcast. The wording reviewed gives both statements and does not state the broadcast date itself.

No opening date for the 2026 window is given in the wording reviewed, and neither are the Turbo Days or the hour at which the day in a daily cap resets. The American Music Awards 2026 voting date that is stated is the closing date. Anything earlier is for the AMAs' own pages to say.

How to enter: the AMAs voting page and the official Instagram profile

The 2026 rules name two ways to take part: American Music Awards Website Voting and Instagram Comment Voting. The AMAs' own BTS announcement repeats the pair, saying fans can vote on the AMAs site and through the official AMAs Instagram profile in all categories.

Website route: a fan with a valid Facebook or Google account used the AMAs' page and submitted votes within the daily cap. The rules use the word submit, and the wording reviewed does not describe the screen beyond that.

Instagram route: an AMAs vote was a comment carrying a Promoted Hashtag for a category, left from an account that was valid, logged in and set to public. Which hashtags the AMAs promoted is not stated in the wording reviewed, so none are listed here.

The link that matters is the one on the AMAs' own pages: the page for the website route and the official Instagram profile for comments. A link from anywhere else is an American Music Awards voting link in name only, because the wording describes no third entry point.

Accounts and reach: Facebook, Google or Instagram, open worldwide

The AMAs asked fans for an account before anything else. Website fans needed a valid Facebook or Google account. Instagram fans needed a valid Instagram account, logged in, with the profile set to public. A private profile is outside the rules as written, because the public setting is a stated condition of taking part.

Location sets no limit on the website route. The rules let any individual with a valid Facebook or Google account take part wherever the AMAs' page is accessible, regardless of location, and the how-to page states that voting is open worldwide.

An AMAs vote carries no stated minimum age. The rules describe eligible website fans as any individual with a valid account and give no age figure, and the wording reviewed is silent on any age rule for Instagram. Whatever age terms Facebook, Google or Instagram apply to their own accounts sit outside the AMAs' wording.

Thirty a day, per platform: the allowance in the organiser's words

The rules cap each fan at 30 votes per category per day on each voting platform, and the how-to page states the same allowance as 30 per user, per category, per day, per method. The website and Instagram are the two platforms, and each keeps its own count.

The count runs per category, so a fan's allowance in one category is untouched by what happens in another. Thirty is a ceiling per day, and the wording reviewed does not say when a day starts or ends, so the exact hour of the reset is not stated.

That is the organiser's own allowance, and it is the only one the rules give for the two platforms outside the Turbo period. The wording reviewed states no weekly or overall limit.

Turbo Voting: sixty on the website, a doubling on Instagram

Turbo Voting raised the ceiling. During the Turbo Voting Period the website allowed up to 60 per category, and Instagram comments cast within the 30 limit were doubled to a total of 60. The how-to page shows the same idea in its allowance line: 60 on Turbo Days.

The two platforms reach 60 by different routes. On the website the cap itself rose to 60. On Instagram the cap stayed at 30 comments and the count doubled them. Either way, 60 per category was the ceiling.

Neither the Turbo dates nor the number of Turbo Days is stated in the wording reviewed, so this page names none.

After thirty: what the website does and what Instagram does

The website stops a fan. Once 30 votes have been submitted for a category in a day, that category is unavailable for further voting until the next day.

Instagram handles the same cap at the counting stage. Comments with Promoted Hashtags for a category in excess of 30 votes per day are not counted as valid votes.

Two mechanisms, then, for one limit: a locked category on the website and an uncounted comment on Instagram. Both are the organiser's own wording. The wording reviewed attaches no further consequence to crossing the cap, such as a penalty or a removal, and this page states none.

BTS at the AMAs: three nominations and the two routes fans used

BTS received three 2026 AMAs nominations: Artist of the Year, Song of the Summer and Best Male K-pop Artist, according to The Daily Star's report. The AMAs' own announcement page says fans can vote for BTS on the AMAs site and through the official AMAs Instagram profile.

An American Music Awards vote BTS fans cast follows the same rules as any other: the same two routes, the same account requirements and the same daily cap per category. The wording reviewed gives BTS no separate route and no separate allowance.

Each nomination sits in its own category, and the allowance is counted per category, so the cap applies to Artist of the Year, Song of the Summer and Best Male K-pop Artist one at a time.

Valid votes, invalid comments and the silence on penalties

The rules define what counts. A website entry needs a valid Facebook or Google account; an Instagram entry needs a valid, logged-in, public Instagram account; and Instagram comments with Promoted Hashtags beyond 30 per category per day are not counted as valid votes. Those three tests are the whole of the validity wording reviewed here.

What the wording does not contain is a penalty, a disqualification rule or a method for telling a fake vote from a real one. Whether the organiser removes counts, closes accounts or disqualifies a nominee is not stated, and any claim about it would be a guess. A flagged AMAs vote therefore has no published consequence in the material reviewed.

For a ruling on one particular case, the place to ask is the publisher of the rules, Dick Clark Productions.

Do this in order

  1. Open the AMAs page for the website route

The website route ran on the American Music Awards' own page, and the link on the AMAs' pages is the one that counts. A link from anywhere else is not one of the two methods.

  2. Sign in with Facebook or Google

Website fans needed a valid Facebook or Google account. No other sign-in is named in the wording, and no minimum age is stated.

  3. Submit within the daily cap

A fan was allowed up to 30 votes per category per day on the website. After 30 in a category, that category was unavailable until the next day.

  4. Or comment from a public Instagram account

The Instagram route needed a valid account, logged in and set to public. Comments carrying a Promoted Hashtag counted up to 30 per category per day; comments beyond that were not counted as valid.

  5. Check the closing time first

Most categories closed on Friday, May 8 at 11:59 a.m. PT. Website voting for Social Song of the Year and Tour of the Year closed later, on May 25.

Fast answers

How to vote for AMAs 2026?

The 2026 AMAs offered two methods: the website, with a valid Facebook or Google account, and Instagram comments, from a valid, public Instagram account that was logged in. Most categories closed on Friday, May 8 at 11:59 a.m. PT, so the methods describe how the 2026 window ran.

How do you vote for American Music Awards on Instagram?

An Instagram vote was a comment carrying a Promoted Hashtag for a category, left from a valid account that was logged in and set to public. Comments beyond 30 per category per day were not counted as valid. The wording reviewed does not list the hashtags.

How many times can you vote for AMAs?

The limit is 30 votes per category per day on each platform, with the website and Instagram counted separately. During Turbo Voting the website allowed up to 60 per category, and Instagram comments within the 30 limit were doubled to 60. The wording reviewed does not say when the day resets.

When is the AMAs voting deadline?

Most categories closed on Friday, May 8 at 11:59 a.m. PT, which is 2:59 p.m. ET. Website voting for Social Song of the Year and Tour of the Year closed on May 25, and the AMAs' announcement says those two were set to stay open through the first 30 minutes of the broadcast. No deadline for a later year is given in the wording reviewed.

Is there an AMAs voting app?

The 2026 rules describe no separate app. They list two methods only, the AMAs website and Instagram comments, and they name no text-voting method either.

How to vote for BTS at the American Music Awards?

BTS fans used the same two routes as everyone else: the AMAs site and the official AMAs Instagram profile, open in all categories. The Daily Star reports three 2026 nominations for BTS: Artist of the Year, Song of the Summer and Best Male K-pop Artist. The wording reviewed gives BTS no separate rules.

Who can vote for the American Music Awards in 2026?

Any individual with a valid Facebook or Google account was eligible for the website route, wherever the AMAs' page was accessible, and the how-to page says voting is open worldwide. Instagram fans needed a valid, public account. The rules state no minimum age.

Can an AMAs vote be disqualified or flagged as fake?

The wording reviewed spells out what counts and stays silent on punishment: it gives no penalty, no disqualification clause and no fake-vote test. What it does state is three conditions: a valid account, a public profile for Instagram comments, and a cap of 30 per category per day on each platform, with extra Instagram comments not counted.

Where this guide stops

No vote can be placed or adjusted through this page, and nothing here changes how the AMAs count one. The publisher of the rules alone decides which entries are valid, when each category closes and what follows a flagged one. The wording reviewed states a cap and account conditions but no penalty or detection method, so none is given here.

The organiser's rules decide what counts

Each organiser's own terms decide which votes are valid, and an organiser can void votes or disqualify an entry. ITV's Love Island terms limit each registered mobile number to one vote per voting event and rule out any method the terms do not state. America's Got Talent asks voters to register and accept its official voting rules, with a cap of ten votes per act, per voting method, per voting window. The American Music Awards decided each winner by the total of valid votes in the category.

How ordinary voting looks to an organiser

Organisers write an ordinary voter down in numbers. The American Music Awards allowed up to 30 votes per award per day on each voting platform, the NASCAR All-Star Race fan vote allowed five a day per unique email address, and the iHeartRadio Music Awards allowed 50 a day per category. A crowd of separate voters stays inside limits like these and arrives day by day, with busier days when an organiser opens a boost. This describes how organisers count; it is not a way around a check.

The legal position and what we refuse

We give no legal advice and cite no statute: the terms that bind a fan vote are the organiser's own, and they fix who may vote. Dancing with the Stars online voters must be at least 18 and in the United States, its territories or Canada; Love Island USA voting is open to US residents aged 18 or older, or with parental permission. We refuse member-only ballots such as the ACM Awards, categories an organiser decides itself, as MTV did with Best Video, and any vote for public office.

What is refunded and what never is

The part of a request that is not delivered before the organiser's voting closes is refunded. A result, a disqualification and a voided vote are never refunded, because the organiser decides all three. Nor is a vote's worth inside the format covered: the MLB All-Star ballot did not carry Phase 1 totals into Phase 2, and at The Game Awards fan voting is one tenth of the vote that decides winners.
